
Kailash, Tibet --- A Sacred Place Tibet Is Surrounded And Bordered By The High And Magnanimous Mountain Ranges. These Mountains Are Considered To Be Great Assets Of The Place, Not Just Because Of Its Beauty But Because Of The Greatness And Sanctity In It. Most Tourists And Visitors Prefer To Trek And Climb The Famous Mt. Everest And Other World-renowned Peaks, But Pilgrims Prefer To Circumambulate The Holy And Most Venerated Place---in Mt. Kailash, Tibet. This Is One Of The Highest Mountains In The Area, Standing Above 22,000 Feet. It Has Been Called Several Names By Different Groups, Jains Call It Astapada, The Bons Call It Tise, And Tibetan Buddhists Call It Kang Rimpoche. At Its Bottom Are Two Lakes, The Sacred Lake Manosaravar, Which Means Laek Of Consciousness And Enlightenment, And Rakas Tal (or Rakshas), Which Means Lake Of Demons. Truly, This Magical Place---the Mountain And The Lakes, Is A Splendid Vision To Behold.This Sacred Mountain Mt. Kailash, Tibet Is Considered As A Holy Place In Four Religions--- Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, And Bon Faith (pre-Tibetan Buddhism). Though, Its A Center Of Sacredness And Pilgrimage, Only A Few Thousands Come And Trek This Holy Place, Because Of Its Location And Weather. Hindus And Buddhists Circumambulate In A Clockwise Direction While The Jain And Bonpo Followers Do It In A Counterclockwise Direction.Mt. Kailash, Tibet---honored And Revered By Four Religions, But Each Religion Has Its Own Reason Why They Do. Hindus Believe That Shiva, Resides At Its Summit, And Thus They See It As Paradise, The Final Destination Of The Spirit. Buddhists Believe That Tantric Buddha Demchok Resides At Its The Mountains Peak. Jains Believe That Rishabhadeva Found Nirvana At This Mountain. The Bons Believe That It Is The Seat Of All Spiritual Power.It Is Believed That In Taking 108 Journeys Around Mt. Kailash, Tibet, The Pilgrim Will Have Assured Enlightenment. It Usually Takes 3-4 Days To Complete Such Pilgrimage But There Are Some Devout Pilgrims Who Take One Full Day To Complete This Ritual, But It Takes A Good Preparation To Do So Since The Uneven Terrain, Altitude And Weather Conditions May Not Be Very Friendly, Considerate And Comfortable To The Pilgrims. This Sacred Place Makes Tibet, Not Just Culturally Rich But Spiritually Fulfilled. It Can Be Noted That The History, Culture And People Of Tibet Are Based And Bound By Its Religiosity, Which Is Even Strengthened By This Reverence To Mt. Kailash, Tibet.
