Different Races And Religions Make The World An Interesting Place And We Should Be All The Richer For Them. Unfortunately, They Can Also Be Divisive. Interracial Relationships Have Always Been Fraught With Difficulties, Due To The Reaction Of Prejudiced People And Conflicts Within The Relationship Itself.Some Countries Forbid Intimate Relations Between Different Races, Or It's At Least Frowned Upon By Society. It Would Have Been Unthinkable In The Segregated Southern States Of America And The Apartheid Regime Of South Africa. A White Person Even Socializing With A Black Person Would Have Been Considered A Traitor. Black Families Would Think It Safer To Stay On Their Side Of The Divide.It Would Be A Brave Couple To Embark On A Friendship Or Romance In A Hostile Atmosphere. The Children Born From Interracial Relationships Have Suffered Too. Mixed Race Children Have Been Bullied, Leaving Them Hurt And Bewildered. Some Of These Children Also Struggle To Have A Sense Of Identity, Whilst Others Embrace The Culture Of Both Parents And Enjoy Having Two Different Roots. From A Purely Pragmatic Point Of View, Young Children Don't Know A Lot About Politics But They Do Know If They're Going To Get Both Hanukah And Christmas Presents!If Children Are Raised In A Mix Of Two Cultures, They'll No Doubt Decide Which Path To Follow When They Are Older. They May Decide To Carry On Two Faiths Or None At All. In Any Event, They Are Likely To Be Open-minded People Who Don't Judge Others On The Basis Of Skin Color Or Religion.Families Are Not Always Supportive Of Their Children Who Embark On Interracial Relationships. It's Hard Enough When The Outside World Is Against You Without The Comfort Zone Of A Family Network. Warring Nations Also Add Another Complication. After World War II, American GI's Coming Home With Japanese Brides Were Not Welcomed Home With Open Arms. Internal Conflict Also Makes Interracial Relationships Extra Difficult. Protestant And Catholic Mixed Marriages Face Opposition Sometimes In Northern Ireland.Hopefully, Acceptance Of Other People's Culture And Beliefs Will Improve. We All Want The Same Basic Things After All. We Could All Stay On Our Side Of The Barricades Or We Could Make An Effort At Communication. Interracial Relationships Should Teach Us That We Are All The Same Under The Skin. People Are Not Born With Narrow Minds, They Are Taught To Think That Way. Without Hatred And Bigotry, Love Conquers All.
